Just a short post today to let everyone know we're alive. I beg your mercy, Masters and Mistresses. I also beg your forgiveness, kajirii. We've sort of fallen into a recent slump with our roleplay, so posting without is hard.
I have come to realize just how driven slave roleplay is by the Free; sure, we can do things by ourselves, amongst each other, but there's not nearly as much we can do. It's basically just a chat forum amongst ourselves. Without Free people to guide us, without captives to strip or people to serve, it is truly flat and non-dynamic.
Just a thought. :)

Trolls trolling trolls trolling trolls trolling trolls.

(I figured with the cap/rape/release theme of the game, this picture seemed to be appropriate. :P)
Griefer: Someone who shows up to an RP sim with the general goal to cause chaos and distress, making it difficult for others to play the game. Typically greifing is done by people who don't like, or agree with RP, or that sim's specified RP.
Troll: In Internet slang, a troll is someone who tries to harass[1] by posting inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, chat room, or blog, with the primary intent of provoking other users into a desired emotional response[2] or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.[3] In addition to the offending poster, the noun “troll” can also refer to the provocative message itself, as in that was an excellent troll you posted. While the term "troll" and its associated action, trolling, are primarily associated with Internet discourse, media attention in recent years has made such labels highly subjective, with 'trolling' being used to describe intentionally provocative actions outside of an online context. (Wikipedia)
Last night a girl, dressed in what appeared to be cosplay, came into my camp's sim and tried to RP with us. At first, we honestly all thought she was a greifer or a troll. Some of us joked about capturing her and other people decided to plainly ignore her. During our RP, I approached her - simply curious as of to what she was interested in doing here. She walked across the bridge and I asked her "What do you seek" she then told me "meditation" and some other para-RP stuff I don't honestly remember. I then nodded and went back to what I was doing.
Sortly after that, she IM'd me, asking why I wasn't more territorial. I told her that 1) the bridge in question wasn't my bridge and 2) Valleri likes to avoid conflict. She then suggested that she approach them in RP. They ignored her. Why? Was it because they don't RP with anime freaks? No. Actually, a lot of us enjoy a good con every now and again. Was it because they were busy? Possibly, but unlikely, as if an armed person approached me I'd be a bit worried... it was because every last one of us recognized her cloak... and EVERY last one of us thought she was here to troll us, or cause us grief.
This was followed up by her IMing me after they didn't talk to her. I tried, tried, TRIED to explain to her that it was probably because they thought that she was just trying to cause trouble... or honestly, because her character just didn't have that was very Gorean about her, (this character was VERY fixated on Japanese culture as well as a certain anime.) I eventually gave up and let Jaem have the computer. What originally started with trying to explain why her RP wasn't Gorean ended up as trolls trolling trolls trolling trolls. In the end her message ended with "Good night, /b/rother." Which lead us to believe that she was a troll.
In the morning she talked to me about how much of a dickwad Jaem is and how people from mmm-chan are total douche bags... (How she figured out he was a lurker, I'll never know.) This has inspired me to write this blog... of which I will discuss how to contain the troll or griefer in your community.
First things first...

There is nothing wrong with a bit of mischief in good taste. The link below is an explanation of Gor, brought to you by ED. You will notice that it is mean, rude... and funny as shit.
http://encyclopediadramatica.com/Gor
But also realize, that the troll who wrote this, probably RPs on SL himself.
Trolls often don't mean what they say. They're just trying to get you going or make you upset. Only a fool would take this stuff seriously. Trolls aren't actually terrible people. They are just human beings with a set of beliefs who have a specific way of making themselves heard. You know, like Goreans. Ever hear the expression "DON'T FEED THE TROLLS?" When you recognize a troll, most people will be quick to defend. But the easiest way to deal with a troll is to ignore a troll. Like bullies were in the third grade, they'll get bored and move on to something else.
While griefers are typically not quite as clever as trolls, they can be a lot more serious about their work as a griefer. These are the people who lag the sim with "griefer tools" and work especially hard to take a sim down by making RP difficult. I was actually involved in a forty person raid of nothing but griefers with "manther" tags, who not only had intentions of annoying the fuck out of us, also taking time out of our RP to fight them AND lagging our sim to the point that we couldn't even freaking move. Whereas, same as the troll, you should ignore them - you should probably also mute them and it's IMPERATIVE that you contact your sim's administrator so that this person might be ejected and banned from the sim.
If you can't remember anything else in this blog, please remember this -
DON'T FEED THE TROLL! YOU WILL ONLY GIVE IT MORE POWER, THEREFOR MAKING IT STRONGER!
And also, realize that if you walk into a RP sim wearing a recognizable cosplay costume, you can - and more than likely WILL be mistaken for a troll.
Jaem's Sa-eela
DISCLAIMER: This Sa-eela was written and performed by me. If you wish to use it, please write me an email or send mail to Hikari Nirpaw asking my permission and describing what it was for. I hereby state that the following is an original work of mine (and it's pretty good, too :D).
Today I lost my shyness and fear in dancing in front of the free; whereas before I had worried if I was to be found pleasing, if being a kajirus would make me look silly when performing, if my musical taste and writing skill weren't good enough, despite my dance instructor Mia Harcourt's (of SL's Gorean Pleasure Silk University) kind words of advice and encouragement. Tonight I danced with no comforts other than Mistress Valleri; I had no knowledge that Mia would be there, nor some of my other classmates. To my surprise, it was recieved extremely well; my choice of music was noted, the timing went well, and many commented on my surprising grace and beauty as a kajirus.
The following is the dance; imagine if you would a simple dance pit, surrounded by cushions. A Czehar player plucks gently at a few strings of his instrument, tuning it, and the percussionist strikes a few quick beats to make sure his skins are in order. Inside the pit lay a slave, half curled as if sleeping. ((If you want the actual audio as an aid, play "Can you dig it" by The Monkees. It's on youtube, promise.))

Jaem looks up from his huddled sleeping position, curled up so tightly that some sand clung to his chest where legs pressed into torso. Eyes scan the room and slowly but surely he comes to life to the sound of a czehar's quick, ornamented tune.
The boy, with a face filled with sorrow, gazes out past a roomful of people, expression never changing. He was all alone. His form wraps back up as he makes it all the way to his knees, hands tracing slender curves.
Jaem allows his glinting, silvery orbs to widen as the unseen drifts farther and farther off into the distance... He weakly picks himself from his knees and clasps cold hands overhead, then sliding them past each other.
With a flowing motion his arms pass along his frame, legs slowly following the new sound of a soft drumbeat, taking soft steps. He arches, showing his muscular and yet curved form...and yet to no avail.
Jaem cries out softly, and hides his face for a brief moment, body once again enclosing on itself as he realizes his desires will go unnoticed. His shy demeanor holds him back, paralyzed for a moment, frozen.... He then catches on to the prying eyes, hungry, around him as his truly wretched state shows itself.
The kajirus looks about at the eager Free and his eyes turn fiery, empassioned. The boy's frame writhes from head to heel; hands dart out, fingers bent like claws. He rakes at thin air in need as the drum beat grows steadily faster, as do the nimble fingers of the czehar player...
The boy's form starts to rapidly rise and fall, breath agitated by the ferocity and power of each swipe of his hands. He shudders as the crisp wind kisses his worked, glazed flesh, fangs bared in a primal display of desire. He turns rapidly, kicking up sand which floats like mist, quickly dissipated by his aggravated gouges at the air.
Jaem slowly but surely begins to tire out, each breath shallower, rougher, more difficult for his poor body to bring in. Still he tries his hardest to bring himself forth, the last of his energy expended. His lips part and a loud, lewd, practically dripping moan escapes his lips, maintaining the savageness of his movement, and yet displaying his knowledge of defeat.
He falls forward, body half-curled on his belly. The music stops, and the small, weak form lay in the sand, glistening body coated with a fine layer of tan crystals, almost pale against his sun-kissed skin. He squints weakly and brings himself for but a moment up to speak.
"I hope I am...pleasing..." are the only words he manages to articulate before he falls over in exhaustion. The soft shifting of the warm sand beneath him at each deep, winded breath is the only movement after that, vulnerable and helpless before his own desire.
If Mistress Valleri wishes to add to this, I will allow it; I don't know what else to do, actually, lol. I just thought I would share this, as my confidence has grown. :D

The Haud Deus "mambas" and the death of civilized Gor

I write this post maybe a bit intoxicated and high, so bear with me as I discuss this topic.
The Haud Deus "mambas" are essentially part of the cancer that is killing Gor; the tumor in the brain of all things logical and book-inspired. They kill to kill. They teleport people in by the tens for one single person firing upon them simply to win. They will then unceremoniously, unforgivingly, slice you up and eat only the choicest parts in order to degrade you and make you feel even more sick and unvalued than you were if you were to be eaten by TRUE mambas. There is no mention of honor. There is no use of your whole body. They will tear out your heart and then burn the rest of you as if it were common practice.
TRUE mambas, true people-eaters, as it were, are similar to the cannibalistic tribes of south africa, or the hunting tribes of Alaska and the Arctic. They respect and even cherish the animals/people they hunt. They try to make the death as painless as possible, and then apologize for any pain or stress the person or animal may feel as they die. They then thank them for the sustenance, strength, and materials they will provide for the future of the tribe they belong to before ceremoniously ending the life of said person/beast. They respect those that they hunt.
The Haud Deus "mambas," however, will simply eat what they get. They instill fear in what they hunt, and go into the most gory of details which parts they eat and which they simply throw aside. They respect not the personal limits of a roleplayer, nor do they really care about who is behind the keyboard that they intend to consume. You're a kajira? We'll eat you. A free woman? We'll eat you. A snivelling, weak, sick, helpless kajirus? HELL YES, we will eat your heart and burn the rest, and then discard the bones.
This may be a rant, but it is a rant in the hopes that no others will follow their "tribe's" footsteps. Gor as a whole finds life to be precious, even true mambas know that. This group requires that you have a mind set on the murder of others in order to participate in their daily practices. For this reason I post, and I beg you, as a slave boy only can, not to seek them out, and to avoid them at all costs.
I wish you all well,
~jaem

Pieeeeeedmont...
"A city mentioned in a brief comment on the exploits of Dietrich of Tarnburg. Its exact location is not specified though likely at the foot of a mountain, as the name would indicate." - www.worldofgor.com on Piedomont
I've been to this sim a few times before. Mainly when I'm bored and I want to take a visit to some non-threatening sim. Piedmont is a sim that doesn't participate in force collar or force capture, or raids and is purely role play! Perfect, eh? Not all the time...
Piedmont is a sim which is (for a lack of a better word) marketed to Gorean lifestylers. As I've made clear in my introduction, a Gorean lifestyler I am not. Also, after my first night in Piedmont, I was informed via IM that I shouldn't expect a lot of roleplay out of the locals, as they are purely about the lifestyle. I was a bit disheartened, but I decided to stay, even though I knew going into it that it wasn't going to be the best roleplay of my life. (I originally wanted to visit a different sim, but since the internets were acting funny I decided to head there instead.)
When I first got there I searched a bit for the little green dots on my screen, hopin' to get some action in. There was a scribe on and also a man who was wearing nothing but a "censored" bar across his crotch. My first thought was, "OMFG, you's trollin'!" but when I headed into the inn, sure enough censor man followed suite. I looked around and finally found my room for the night, (which seemed to me it may to be made up as a fancy alcove of sorts.) Knowing that censor man was downstairs, OOC, I made a trip to the second floor and hollared from the balcony - covering my eyes and so forth.

I soon found out that censor man was NOT a troll, but infact a pretty cool dude. My opening line was something along the lines of, "Any other city and your freedom would be questioned!" and so he came back with "Any other city and you wouldn't be here (in the tavern.)" I then declared that we're square and asked for his name, and told him my real name, as I felt he was no threat. Shortly after he asked my homestone; it was quickly after that we found that we were both outlaws of sorts. We sat in the tavern, BSing a bit and talking about whatever happened to come up. I am pleased to say that by the end of the night there were two yellow dots on my screen opposed to one. :) Eventually it came time for my RL bedtime and I said goodnight... hoping that I could perhaps just get a little bit of RP in the morning. The same person who was online the night before was the only person in sim, (the scribe, not censor man) so I left... because I didn't want to roleplay in a dead sim all day... just to go to a not dead sim where everyone runs around OOC, and downs their own people, it seems. o.o
In my time at Piedmont I learned something, rather important about roleplaying in Gor. Part of the experience of roleplay is defense. Defending your family, your homestone, your place of business, ect, ect. Anther important part of the roleplay experience is fear of being collared, of being caught, or being revealed. Now, I am in no way saying that raiding outlaw camps and taking them back to rape their men is my role in Gor. No, no. In fact, right now my header says "There's more to Gor than sex and raids!" buuuut, my point is that non-combat sims limit roleplay oppertunities. I can understand the position of the people of whom live in Piedmont. The majority of their residents, as mentioned earlier, are lifestylers. However, for those of us who aren't interested in sex... this brings up a bit of a problem.
In conculsion, Piedmont can be a fun place to stay if you're just hanging out and want to take a break for an hour or so without getting collared... but like Jort's Ferry isn't a vacation destination. o.o

The Wonderful World of Sais
"This town is part of the Vosk League. It is located west of Ar's Station, Jort's Ferry, Point Alfred, Jasmine, and Siba." - angelfire.com on Sais.
It's safe to say that Sais isn't like ANY other city that I've visited so far. Sais, is very much a very by-the-book sim, but at the same time treats it's people very, very well. Everyone from the red caste to the red silk is treated with respect and care. This is probably the first time that I've actually understood why a by-the-book sim is preferred by so many. The honor, the pride, the glory of the village filled the pixelated air. It is the first city that I've come across along the Vosk River that hasn't been taken over by pirates, panthers, outlaws or mercenaries. I was warned that Sais wasn't going to be an easy stay, and in order to keep myself safe I had to tell quite a few lies, this included my name, homestone and caste. Two of which I don't even posess. When I first came to Sais there were a set of men there, eager to greet me. One of the men escorted me into the city and set me up with a kajira tour guide (a lovely kajira.) When I first asked about lodging, I was under the impression that the inn was in the tavern, as so many things are. We discussed what would be of me, back and forth a few times before he insisted that my drinks and lodging were on his tab. For his generosity I owed to him a salve which I sent with the kajira before I went to bed, (logged off.)
I was given a tour by the pretty kajira. She showed me the village, the bakery, the various places where the castes practice and the residental area. What I found especially interesting was the tavern. There are very strict rules, as not only are unescorted freewomen not allowed to enter, but white silk slaves are also forbidden to enter. I was VERY VERY impressed, and pleased that white silk kajiras were so well protected. :) We finally ended our tour at the infirmary, where the inn is actually located. Since the kajira wasn't entirely sure how to get into the inn, we stopped and talked to the neighborhood scribe. This was where the majority of lying took place. While I am a merchant of sorts, and I do live in walking distance of Corcyrus it is not my homestone, nor is the gold and white caste mine. As I was wearing a green colored dress he asked me if I was of caste. When I told him no, he told me that it wasn't anything a bit of studying wouldn't fix. I then told him my secret Gorean ambition on second life... and that would be... that if I were to pick a caste... I'd be.. A LAWYER!
*GASP!*
He then told me that there is a training academy called the Gorean Legal Academy. OOC, I immediately joined their group and dropped my jaw. Guess where I'm gonna get my education on! You guessed GLA? You guessed right! I wonder if talunas have lawyers... :) (Probably not, as they are basically ex-slaves living as outlaws.) Regardless it can't hurt to look into it, right? Shortly after the friendly scribe added me as a friend and I prayed to God he would still think I was a worthy person to converse with after he saw my profile, (Which mind you, explains that I am NOT a pretty freewoman merchant from Corcyrus, and that I actually go by my username, "Valleri.") Last night ended with my stripping down to my underwear, (Which definately looks like kajira clothing, as it's just a corset and panties) and snuggling into my nice big bed. My first day in Sais was wonderful. I was hopeful that it would be just as lovely in the morning... and it was. :)
In the morning I headed out to the women's pavilion (a lovely, and MUCH less misogynist alternative to the tavern. My feminist self didn't enjoy the segregation, but very much enjoyed that I didn't have to listen to men drool over kajiras. There I met a recently freed ex-slave who was mourning the lost of her lover. It was sortly after that in which I decided it was time for an RL swim and a gri'lled cheese sandwich. When I signed back on, I shocked to see that there was a kajira who I had met earlier who was down to 25% health with a rock drawn. I looked to my left and low-and-behold the tavern was on fire. The kajira and I did our best to put out the flames, roleplaying carrying heavy buckets of water into the tavern and doucing the flames over crunchy arrowheads. There must have been a massive raid before I woke up because the lag was rediculous. When we were finished putting out the fire the sim called for a restart. That was when I roleplayed walking to the gate and leaving, as there was no way I was going to be able to actually, really leave in 60 seconds.
Overall, my stay in Sais was lovely. I wish that more Gorean sims could be as wonderful as this sim was. They were honorable, respectful, classy even. And, as close to the books as someone could realistically get. The people are so friendly from the red castes (which I usually fear and hate) to the freewomen and even the kajriae! I highly suggest a visit, and if your own sim recently folded, that you check out this place - as it's awesome! :)
Valleri's Rating of Win: ********** (out of ten of course.)

Gor on a rainy day.

This post isn't actually about the combination of playing Gor as it rains outside on Earth; it's about reflecting on Gor while listening to rainymood.com and some very relaxing, reflective jazz music. Yes, I know what the jazz is all about, thank you, Bill Cosby.
Gor seems to be getting progressively worse on the whole. The death toll rises. People have sunk into using the Capture, Rape, Release as a standard rather than something to be avoided. BDSMers have snuck in everywhere, and kajirii wander about looking for a tribe to take them, rape them, and let them go rather than actually do any service (yes, this has happened in my sim as I'm sure it has in others).
But at the same time, those who are committed to the roleplay, to building story arcs, to developing characters and places and livelihoods of fictional beings, continue to get better at their wordcraft and their, well, artform. More dynamic, interesting ideas continue to pour into Gor. People are more and more often using the books as inspiration rather than a bible. I saw someone with eyeglasses on, for instance, which in some places would have caused an uproar, but Gor had sand, had metals to make frames, and the Eastern Plains have magnifying glasses and microscopes, so...why not?
It's really two sides of a coin with Gor, so far, but as the good keeps getting better, I have hope for our roleplay community. Hopefully, more people will go to heads, instead of always seeking tail.
