Gor on a rainy day.

This post isn't actually about the combination of playing Gor as it rains outside on Earth; it's about reflecting on Gor while listening to rainymood.com and some very relaxing, reflective jazz music. Yes, I know what the jazz is all about, thank you, Bill Cosby.

Gor seems to be getting progressively worse on the whole. The death toll rises. People have sunk into using the Capture, Rape, Release as a standard rather than something to be avoided. BDSMers have snuck in everywhere, and kajirii wander about looking for a tribe to take them, rape them, and let them go rather than actually do any service (yes, this has happened in my sim as I'm sure it has in others).

But at the same time, those who are committed to the roleplay, to building story arcs, to developing characters and places and livelihoods of fictional beings, continue to get better at their wordcraft and their, well, artform. More dynamic, interesting ideas continue to pour into Gor. People are more and more often using the books as inspiration rather than a bible. I saw someone with eyeglasses on, for instance, which in some places would have caused an uproar, but Gor had sand, had metals to make frames, and the Eastern Plains have magnifying glasses and microscopes, so...why not?

It's really two sides of a coin with Gor, so far, but as the good keeps getting better, I have hope for our roleplay community. Hopefully, more people will go to heads, instead of always seeking tail.
