The rise of brutalism in Gor; a slave's perspective.

It seems to me that those who can roleplay do and those who can't kill. And I'm not talking about justified kills here. Death was a large part of Gorean life; it happened every day. However, it seems like killing has become an answer to a lack of an imagination, or to a poor roleplay, or to getting someone you didn't want from a raid.

Killing someone isn't the solution to all but a few roleplays; it's the failure of most. I can't stress this enough. I, personally, have had my character for two and a half years, and have only died two times...both of which happened in the same week, and both were but a month ago. For some solid numbers to get you thinking, SL-Gor has a population of roughly 16,000 people. There is at least one death every hour. Not including peak hours, in which kills spike anywhere from five to fifteen kills an hour, that makes 24 characters dead a day. Not everyone is like me; willing to say the Priest Kings somehow magically revived them. Some people will stop playing Gor. Some people will have to begin entirely new characters. Some people may leave roleplay all together.

There are ways to avoid death in Gor. Do something creative; I have heard of a panther tribe that would dress men up in silks and release them on the outskirts of other panthers' hunting lands, and if they could make it to the other side of the sim and back they were freed. I've read people who would post captives on crosses displayed in the front of their camp for all to see and fondle and grope and...well, etc, etc.

The point of this post is that life was precious to Goreans. They would find a way, ANY way, to avoid killing someone. Please keep this in consideration while you decide the fate of the poor slaveboy you have in your kennels.
